Homage To Wood Dalling

I see my daughter aged 63
kneeling, slowly, in the garden
she's cutting back the grape hyacinth
and I like to think
She's thinking of me

I see my daughter aged 63
not so great on her feet but
she's thinning out the white balsam
'please mans helmet'
two thousand and three

Then, she remembers
blue eyes yellowed
hair blond to grey she sees
a man pass by on a bicycle
i know she knows it's me.
