looking at houses on Cockington Rd
One blonged to The Morris's
who I always viewed as posh
seventy nine grand for asbestos
and stonechips seemed cheap.
the feelings came in hedgerows
and pavements and slight inclines,
cracks in the roads and kerbs and
those two mysterious bungalows
- they were different to us all -
and now, go cheap with 4 beds..
topography measured with a bouncing ball
railings that de-marcate fights and flights
the butcher, the chippie, the beer-off
the news agent and grocer was all
I knew of human geography.
Everything else was physical.
this is not an internet experience.
this is something far more universal
it is this exquisiteness of experience
and memory that make these feelings
and they bear more examination than
my newly failed download of Google Earth
can offer.
